Overview
Depression Treatment In New Jersey
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a modern, innovative brain stimulation technology capable of altering neural activity. It has been applied as a mental health treatment and is an FDA-approved therapy for depression, anxious depression (anxiety associated with depression), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Why Choose TMS for Depression?
Although psychotherapy and medication, especially antidepressants, are frequently used as treatment for depression and can be effective for many, not all clients see the results they hope to obtain under these traditional therapies. Additionally, we are acutely aware of how depression can manifest during and after pregnancy and later stages in life and endeavor to address gaps in healthcare that can leave pregnant and elderly clients unsupported. For these populations, TMS may be favorable to antidepressants and other psychotropic medications due to concerns about potential side effects that may have a greater impact on these individuals. It may also be an attractive option to any individual who prefers to avoid the potential side effects of medication.
TMS has been approved specifically for treatment-resistant depression in adults – characterized by depressive symptoms unable to be alleviated after trialing 2 different types of antidepressants. Research examining the outcomes of TMS therapy for depression has demonstrated efficacy and many clients find their day-to-day well-being has improved.
How We Conduct TMS
TMS treatment is delivered according to a treatment schedule which should be followed to completion for the full benefits, although some clients report alleviation of symptoms a few weeks into the treatment. For a standard TMS treatment, clients undergo 36 sessions in total. For the first 6 weeks, TMS sessions are conducted 5 days a week. After this, the frequency of sessions are tapered off over 2 weeks. We also offer accelerated TMS treatment, which condenses the duration of treatment to 5 days, where clients undergo 10 sessions each day. This can be an attractive alternative to those who seek quicker results without compromising on quality of care.
TMS is administered by our highly trained professionals. It involves a metal coil contained in a device placed over the patient’s head for the duration of a 20-minute session. We prioritize our patient’s comfort throughout the sessions. Our modern facilities include a snack and beverage bar for refreshments. Throughout sessions, clients are able to watch television or simply relax in a comfortable reclining chair. We also provide custom music selections.
Payment Options
At Elevium Health, we accommodate several payment options, including insurance coverage, self-pay, and out-of-pocket payment. Most insurance companies now cover TMS treatment, generally under the condition that clients have trialed at least 2 different classes of antidepressants. Additionally, we have self-pay and out-of-pocket options for those who do not fit their insurance’s criteria. For instance, for clients who want to pursue TMS as a first-line treatment. We understand the cost of therapy can be a limiting factor for clients seeking mental health treatment. Please contact us to further discuss payment arrangements.

I believe that true healing begins when we explore beyond symptoms. I’m passionate about integrating transformative, evidence-based therapies to help people reclaim clarity, connection, and control in their lives.

How long does a TMS session take?
A typical TMS session lasts about 20 minutes. Sessions are done daily, five days a week, over several weeks depending on the treatment plan.
How many sessions do I need?
For depression, a standard course includes 36 sessions over 6 to 8 weeks. For OCD, 29 sessions are typically required. We also offer accelerated protocols (e.g., 50 sessions over 5 days) for eligible clients.
Is TMS painful?
TMS is not painful, but some people feel a tapping sensation or scalp tingling during treatment. Most clients adjust quickly and report minimal discomfort.
